TITAN X Pascal OR...

VagabondWraith

1080 SLI? I've never had SLI before. I prefer 1 card but trying to push 165Hz at 1440p. I'll be buying within the next 3 weeks. I'm leaning TXP.

Just needing opinions of what other people would do in this scenario. Thanks guys!

What games are you playing?

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Not quite. I had a 1080 once (sold it in expectations of 1080 Ti releasing early, stupid I know), and it didn't come close to pushing even 100 on TW3.

honestly i would look at benchmarks to see what is possible with both on a 6700k. then make a decision based on those results.

A 1080 can barely get 144fps at 1440p.

Titan XP can't push new games to 165hz at max settings, even old games like witcher 3, rise of tomb rider, division and older games like farcry primal... maybe 100 fps max

The feel of spending 1000++ and can't even push more than 100fps max settings is terrible...

Wait for Ti, or VEGA

Even the Ti is expecting to be in the 800msrp tho so knowing graphics prices these days it will be on newegg for 925 lmao

If his goal is 165hz at 1440p max settings, he will have to pay the price... Even money can't buy that performance right now...

But, can SLI titan XP achieve it tho?

SLI Titan is an option down the line. I plan on skipping Pascal refresh (if there indeed is one) and waiting for Volta or the one after. I feel I can get a Titan now, then throw in another used one say next year and I'll be set for a while longer. I can't wait for the Ti as I haven't had a card in over 30 days now and it's killing me. PS4 is not cutting it in the meantime because since moving to PC, I notice frame stuttering and hitching more than ever.

PS: Vega is not an option as I don't want to lose G-Sync compatibility.

CPU: Intel Core i7 7820X Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H110i GTX Mobo: MSI X299 Gaming Pro Carbon AC RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 (3000MHz/16GB 2x8) SSD: 2x Samsung 850 Evo (250/250GB) + Samsung 850 Pro (512GB) GPU: NVidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FE (W/ EVGA Hybrid Kit) Case: Corsair Graphite Series 760T (Black) PSU: SeaSonic Platinum Series (860W) Monitor: Acer Predator XB241YU (165Hz / G-Sync) Fan Controller: NZXT Sentry Mix 2 Case Fans: Intake - 2x Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000 PWM / Radiator - 2x Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000 PWM / Rear Exhaust - 1x Noctua NF-F12 iPPC-3000 PWM

Yea I don't know what to tell you, your goal 165hz 1440p max settings every game is impossible to buy with money...

I just read some benchmarks, even SLI titan XP can't do that in every game, due to CPU bottlenecking and games being unoptimized...

You will have to lower settings in case you want to buy 1080 or titan XP now and not wait for new cards

But then, spending that money and not able to max games, also feels terrible

My monitor doesn't go to 144hz but I have 2x 1080 sli and it max's out at 100fps 3440x1440 on any games I play (even bad optimized like arkham knight) Normally doesn't even get past the 70% usage mark. It was also super easy to setup

Yea sli 1080 can play 1440p at 100fps, but I'm just saying if he wants 165hz maxed out, it's just not something money can buy atm
