Locked down i5, or totally free Pentium M?

You are offered a choice between a 13" 2015 laptop with an i5 5200 mobile processor (2 cores - 8GB RAM) and an IBM T40 with 1GB of RAM.

Both have hard drives and are fully funtional.

BUT! The 2015 i5  is very locked down, you can install programs but cannot do many things:

-Change the desktop background

-Open task manager

-Manage User accounts

-Reinstall/install another OS

-Remove any of these Restrictions

-Change any internal hardware

And much more.....

But in contrast the IBM T40 Thinkpad (2004) gives you total freedom and comes with a fresh install of Windows XP.

Which do you pick? You have no other options in this hypothetical scenario and must use one and only one of them for your daily driver.

That's a toughie, but I'd go with the Thinkpad and just put some lightweight Linux distro on it. It'd be fine for most things i'd need except for gaming.

I would ditch the console and build your own gamming PC. Nvidia is better. Fanboy forever. Console peasents dont know games. 32gb ram minimum. GTX 1080 is the only card worth buying

Maybe I got a little carried away.

My choice would be depended on what I am using the laptop for... What am I using it for?

Computers r fun

I'd take the i5 and take it apart and desolder the HDD and replace to remove the restrictions, even if a laptop doesn't easily allow it, there is no way it could be impossible.

No - it is techniquly rented so you cannot do that.
