GO!

I understand many switch types are excluded.  But I just want to see popular opinion primarily on gaming, and how it affects you when you close your game out.. and use your computer for other things such as messaging, emails, etc.

Also.. Reds are said to be good for FPS.. but what if you play FPS games and MMO's, RTS's?

I prefer Romer-G. But IF I have to choose, I'd take the MX Brown.

Browns feel mushy to me and as a result are very unsatisfying.

I used Reds with travel reduction.

I think I'd enjoy Blacks the most tbh.

As a Red owner, here's my run down of them

- Really low actuation force. Means I can actuate the keys without bottoming them (great for silent typing at night).

- No tactile response. Reds are as linear as switches get. It makes typing less accurate if you're used to having the tactile click feeling

On the flip side, this means they're really really fast. If you're used to how little force you need to put on them, it helps when trying to strike dozens of keys within a second.

I recommend them for: MOBAs, RTS, Rhythm games. Some people might like them for FPS too.

I don't recommend them for: games where accuracy's more important like hotkey MMOs, people who don't game

As for browns, I've only heard they're like blues (heavy-ish, same tactile response), but more silent. Haven't had them hands-on.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Not the same response.

They're literally midway between Reds and Blues. Might as well be called MX Purples

Ah cool thanks. Haven't checked them out myself.

There are good browns and bad browns.  The Ducky shine 3 had abysmal browns.  The Year of the Goat has much better browns.  The early editions of the Logitech G710+ had heavenly browns (but the OEM for the keycaps sucked, were too thin and the stems could break, with O rings making them break even more easily).  The Year of the Goat's MX browns not only feel very nice, but are also NATURALLY silenced from the RGB keycap housing, so when you bottom out, you barely hear anything except a very soft thunk--it literally feels like a Corsair MX red silent switch.  Some people have complained about really bad, scratchy browns where you can't feel the bump but rather feel sand.  The shine 3 I had was like that on some keys.  The G710+ and my YOTG were nice enough to not only give me a guide, but still have me tell when I went past the bump when typing fast.

I have no idea if the Shine 6's RGB MX browns are as good and silent like the YOTG's, but the RGB blues on my shine 6 are very crisp and MUCH quieter bottoming out than the iKBC F108 RGB blues, so I would assume you'd be good to go there too.

Reds I can't stand.  Tried them on a Corsair K70 gunmetal.  Sure they're fast, but I would either press keys I didn't intend to press, or sprint accidentally by depressing shift just by putting pressure on it.  That was a huge problem when I was playing Black Ops 2 back in the day.  I never had that problem with Browns because I had a bump to tell me where to stop pressing.  If I wanted to use Linears, I would prefer a heavier switch than reds to avoid accidental keypresses.  The only problem with the Nature Whites (which I did like for a linear) was that some of the keys had actuation at different elevation points than other keys, which could cause me to MISS keys.  The A key required a deeper press (by about 1mm) than S, which was an issue if I were being lazy, since your pinky presses A (if you touch type).  I would have liked the Nature Whites more if the switches were fully consistent in actuation distance.

I'm sure the OSU players need reds or MX speed switches.  But I have to choose browns for for fast gaming and typing.  RGB blues on my shine 6 and MX greens on my ducky fire 69 are my favorite switches.

I'm using Kailh Red right now, so pretty much MX Red, but to me they are weird for gaming. The Keys are so sensitive that i sometimes press A or D when trying to just run forward just because my fingers are hovering over them. Also, the travel distance is quite long so repeatedly pressine a button, like Melee in MMORPG (or, in my case, Warframe) is a pain for me. I would either get O-rings to shorten the travel distance or get tactile Switches instead, but in the end its up to peoples preferences.

One thing that scares me is pressing the shift key.  I tend to rest my pinky on shift.. especially in CSGO, where shifting matters.  On a membrane (what I have now), the shift does have a bump.  But on a red, wouldnt you accidentally press it?

Yup, also happens with WASD. If you want to run forward and rest your finger on any different key.. you'll press it.
