I want to replace the backround for a picture of me in photoshop

and I want to use an image from this website

pinterest.com

do I need first to ask for permission to use the image ??

Depends what you then plan on doing with said image. If it's for your personal use, no, you don't have to ask for permission (most of the time).

 

If you're going to be using on your own website, for a business or any monetary gain, you should ask for permission.

Generally you need to ask permission, some website mention the licensing situation with the image though. Keep in mind though, Pinterest is just a social media, people post pictures there without owning the picture. Don't assume just because they posted it, they are the legal owner of the picture.

 

Most pictures are licensed in a way you can edit them for personal use without permission. Otherwise fair use will be on your side.

Another good source for images is Unsplash - you are free to use those images for any purpose.
