Motherboards are killing me! Which ONE!

Hello guys, recently i built this, but the mobo stuck to my head.. should i trade this to friend and get a "Asus STRIX Z270E" or something else..(i need ac wifi).. and what do you think about my system..

 

CPU:  I7 7700K

CPU COOLER: Cmaster 212x (Its on the way.. 1-2 days until arrives)

MOBO: MSI B250I

SSD:    Samsung 500GB 960 EVO PCIe M.2 SSD (Read 3200MB / Write 1800MB)

CASE:  Carbide Series® 100R Mid-Tower Case

RAM:    Corsair Value 8GB.. 2133 MHZ..

PSU:    500 Watt 

NO GPU ( Cant start gaming for 3-4 months because of reasonz)

And why use an ITX board in an ATX case?

Maybe he means that the motherboard is stuck to the "head" of a too bigger case, so he wants a bigger MB?

Weird interpretation but that the best I've got.

yes sorry, i was saying "did i do right by chosing this.. but this is mini itx board and im using a big case.."

Well if you ever plan on overclocking I'd definitely get a Z270 board, if you're going to buy a i7-7700k you should eventually at least try an overclock. Also ITX boards are great, but then I would go for a smaller case. But smaller boards mean not as much expandability, for first builds I don't recommend small boards. With my first build I was always changing my mind about certain things and ATX was a better choice at the time. But now that I know a whole lot more and know exactly what I want and need out of a build, I have built myself another system that is ITX form factor and I love it.

I Already bought this system.. its absolutely perfect for me.. i want to overclock the cpu.. and i will when 212x cooler arrives. Here is my questions:

 

Is this mobo good enought

Should i overclock cpu and ram?

Should i get a smaller case? (is it better for cooling etc?)

i will get a 1070 in 4-5 months or a newer gpu..

Yeah just make sure that motherboard supports overclocking then, It should. But be aware when overclocking you may hit some high thermals if you push it just using a hyper 212. 

This is from my i7-6700k review, and the i7-7700k would perform similarly:

“I've water-cooled this processor (i7-6700k) with the Cooler Master MasterLiquid Pro 240 and am overclocked at 4.7GHz at 1.360V. I never have any thermal throttling or system stability issues. After 4 hours of stress testing on Aida64 I had an average CPU temperature of 69 degrees C. So for those looking to overclock this CPU I definitely would recommend a 240mm AIO CPU cooler. Or at least a big air cooled heat sink. When I first built this system I was using the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, (which is an amazing cooler) but without any overclocking I was hitting even higher temps in day-to-day use than I'm hitting now; even with the 4.7GHz overclock.“

As far as overclocking ram don't bother, it's hard and makes pretty much zero difference. But once you upgrade your graphics card I would overclock it.

 

When it comes to the case I say it’s up to you. If you want a cleaner looking build that is a lot more portable then yeah get a Mini-ITX case. I very recently built myself this system in the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv mini ITX case and I love it. The case won't make a difference on airflow so much. It all depends on your fan setup. This Phanteks case has lots of room for fans, and even a big radiator up top. So if you decide to liquid cool your CPU, which I would if you want to hit a 5.0GHz overclock on your i7. Then you have the room for it, even in such a small case.

So the cooling system you have in this case is looking very great.. atm i have my 2 fans in front and none in top section.. like this:

Do you have any exhaust fans at all? If not, and all you have are those two intake fans, I would put one of them as a rear exhaust. Or even better if you can buy one cheap 120mm fan and put it as exhaust. That way you have lots of cool air coming in with two intake fans. Keeping all your hardware cool. That red ITX build actually has one big 200m fan upfront for intake, it's just not super visible, but I'm going to replace it with two Corsair red LED SP140 fans, for even better airflow. I'm anal about thermals so I'm all about good airflow and keeping my rigs cool. Remember more air passing through = better thermals, which means better performance. But you don't want more exhaust fans than intake fans, a good balance is best. Or at least more intake fans.

 

Here is my other main system, this has two 140mm front intake fans, one 120mm bottom intake fan, two 120mm radiator exhaust fans, and one rear 120mm exhaust fan:

I have stock corsair case fan in the back of the case.. its what you are talking about?

So how many fans do you have as exhaust and how many do you have as intake?

But being a ITX  mobo you probably only have 3 fan headers (mine only has 3) so you may need some fan splitters down the road. In my red ITX build I already have a splitter for those two exhaust fans, and I will need another splitter once I put two SP140 fans up front.

Alright thank you guys very much, i have 2 in front 1 in back.. up side is empty and this looks good atm after i watched video so im gonna keep it like this.. very helpfull community thank you guys.

 

One more question: 212x or budget cpu liquid cooler? is there much diffrence?
