My PC isn't turning on and I have no idea why. (Video)

RoryLogue

Hi, i'm having some problems with my 4 week old build.

I've posted threads before...but my PC will work sometimes and sometimes it will shut down or just not turn on at all.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/rory182/saved/2nzk - Build

Today

My PC was running for 3 hours, just general web browsing, then turned off randomly and wouldn't turn back on.

The mobo light is on, the fans spin up but nothing else happens.

Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUb_VIxWYtI

(sorry for horrific quality)

Any help appreciated, really want to get this fixed :(

Relevant videos of the problems I had before:

UPDATE: Took out GPU, turned on without GPU installed and its back on. This worked before for me, but I know the problem will still be there later on....

could be that your hdd is failing. Have you tried to put a different in it?

This is my opinion, it doesn't mean I'm right and is liable to change at any time. I may offend of which I apologize in advance.

could be just normal overheating, when it overheat and the fans doesn't spin as much then it won't cool and thats why it won't start again so check the temperature next time and see if its that. ( could be both the PSU or cpu )

My rig : CPU: Intel i7 4820K   Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X79S-UP5-WIFI   RAM : Kingston hyper X 2133MHz 2x 8GB total 16GB   CPU-Cooling : Corsair H60 V2   SSD : Intel 335 series 180GB   PSU : Corsair RM series 750w   Chassi : Corsair Graphite 600T   GPU : Asus radeon HD7750 ( gonna upgrade soon )

Try reseating the CPU, RAM, and GPU. Then if that doesn't work, make sure all of your power connectors are nice and snug.

EDIT: Don't forget to reapply the thermal paste on the CPU after you do it.

GPU back in and PC is back working still. This problem will most likely happen later today or tomorrow again.

No, but why would that do anything? Its being recognised as 16gb and has been working fine?

Never know. If that doesn't solve anything, take out the CPU, put it back in, and don't forget to re-apply thermal paste, or you could fry it.

PC is fine atm, just restarted in BF4, temps were 60 degrees, currently on it now. Probably my CPU cooler fan speed running at 400rpm?

That shouldn't be an issue, until it reaches the TJMax, which I think is higher. What is your CPU?

Yeah, the max it can go is 72C, so overheating isn't an issue. Try taking it out, making sure the contacts are clean, none of the pins on the motherboard are bent, and put it back in. And again, don't forget to reapply a fresh layer of thermal paste.

the max is 72C!? I've gone past that before...

also this happened about a hour ago: PC turned off. Took off side panel and pushed the 8pin cpu power cable and it turned on straight away....could be my power supplys cables coming loose...corsair RM modular cables are tough.

How long were you past 72C? And tell me later how the CPU power cable adjustment worked.

played a few hours past 72c before...i just googled and a lot of people have temps higher than 72c with the 4770k. max temp is 105c before throttling. I literally just pushed the 8pin cpu cable in, i *think* that gradually the cable is falling out of the mobo....still need to make my cpu cooler fan speed go up from 400 RPM though right?

Yeah. Make sure you have your CPU fan plugged in the right header too. That happened to me and I destroyed a 3.73GHz Pentium 4 Extreme Edition I got for free.
