Help building $1,500 gaming pc

Hi, I am in the process of making a gaming pc with a budget of $1,500. This is my first time building a computer, so any advice will be appreciated. Here is a build that I had in mind: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZMJsvV . Any constructive criticism will be appreciated.

I feel like 1080's are pretty overpriced though, I would personally rather get an i7 then the massive amount of money to a 1080 for a small performance boost but that's just me.

Should I wait for new hardware to come out or should I just buy it ASAP? I heard that this year is going to be a good year for hardware that's why I'm asking.
