Should I buy a phone or tablet?

Jageth-theth

Hello,
I would like to buy a device to use for entertainment and communication. The thing is I do not want to pay for a phone service (calling and texting) because I would never use it. Instead I would like to get data. Also I would like to use the device for watching YouTube, Crunchy Roll, ect.

Which device should I get a phone or a tablet?

I need something with a camera and a mic so I could use skype and messenger.

Also I have a limited budget around $200 - $300 maybe $350

And if you recommend any specific devices please tell me.

The only portable electronic device I have is a PS vita.

And I would be keeping it in my back pack.

if youll be carrying it around alot, phone (maybe a oneplus 3t)

tablets are better otherwise for content consumption because of their large screens

if you can afford a 3 in 1, thatd be a sweetspot

if (you want to reply) {

 USE THE QUOTE BUTTON

}

else {

 DONT

}

I will only be bringing it to work with me. Aside from that it will stay home.

There's no point in saying that you have a limited budget, and then not giving us the number. It doesn't really allow us to provide any kind of truly helpful advice. Appropriate suggestions really depend on your budget, as most tablets with GSM capabilities are more expensive.

You should check what your provider uses as far as bands go for their data. Then you can figure out which tablets are compatible with your network. How often do you plan to use it though? YouTube chews through data awfully fast.

I don't know what the first half means. As for the second half I would use YouTube and Crunchy Roll twice very rarely on data. Most of the time I would be using WiFi. However I would be using messenger quite frequently in places where I cant use WiFi

GSM networks work on frequencies. Devices only support certain ones, so you have to make sure that the frequencies that your network uses (Verizon, AT&T, etc) match the one that are enabled in the device you buy. Otherwise you'll get no signal.
