Dire Need Of Help

TauroGT

I have been gaming on a TV monitor for a very long time and I think it's 100% time to upgrade.

Originally I was trying to find a white or silver monitor capable of 144hz and 1ms but was not able to find one, so I gave up.

I'm now looking for a 24" monitor with 144hz, 1ms, 1920x1080 and possibly Gsync as I am running a MSI Gerforce GTX 980 card.

My budget is £250 but will stretch to £300.

Thanks in advance.

I have came to this forum because I know Linus is a wizard.

-Edit-

I currently stream games and those games are CS:GO, Overwatch, BF1, Rocket League and other similar stuff if that helps.

Linus will likely not respond to this topic.

A common display to go for is the ASUS VG248QE.

Not worth paying for G-sync

327 GBP for G-sync 1080p 144hz TN
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/R998TW/aoc-monitor-g2460pg

Only 217 GBP for a free-sync equivalent, there's a few others as well for free-sync monitors anyways

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Bear in mind that FreeSync is not usable with an NVIDIA card.

I'm a bit of a setup colour guy where things have to be a certain colour. Should I just stop being that type of guy?

Also I know that FreeSync is AMD and I'm running a NVIDIA card but does it actually matter?

Thanks for your input! :)

Seem to of missed this comment. I was going to get this but I noticed it is like 4 years old so I kinda got put off. Should it matter?

You can't use free-sync with an nvida GPU, but the display will work fine otherwise

No. It's just a display. Power consumption is higher on this display versus newer ones, if that matters, but otherwise, it's a perfectly fine panel.

So this monitor is not worth paying for even though it has GSync? If not then I'll go with the ASUS that Godly has noted.

Also the green on the AOC monitor doesn't really go well with what colour setup I want to go for. Or should I just stop thinking about colours?

You may have to compromise on your color scheme, or you can try modding the color if you want to go that route.

You might as well get a free-sync display, could always upgrade to Vega at some point, or nvidia will care about freedom someday

there's plenty of other free-sync displays that cost less than the G-sync display

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/g34NnQ/iiyama-gb2488hsu-b2-240-144hz-monitor-gb2488hsu-b2

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/FZJkcf/acer-xf240h-240-144hz-monitor-umfx0aa001

There's also of course Ultra Wides to consider below 300, will only be 60hz or course
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/CrvZxr/lg-29um68-p-290-60hz-monitor-29um68-p

This one's 1080p 75hz, but it's IPS, so colors are far better as are viewing angles than the TN 144hz displays
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/rvjWGX/lg-23mp68vq-p-230-60hz-monitor-23mp68vq-p

And the final option is 4k TN 28"
