3570k @4.9ghz --> 7700k w/ OC

i5 3570k --> i7 7700k? My i5 is oced to 4.9 and has been for like 3 years... I know i need ddr4, and a z270 board but worth it or no? I'm thinking a good upgrade to go with my 1070. or should i go for a x99 with a 5820k? :S

Was also thinking just its gonna be a good jump for 4 cores i5 to 8*cores i7 , then maybe after that gets old and a good 6 core comes out in a couple years from now then do a "x99" build

Going to Kaby with your current chip is asking to throw money into the trash. Hell, the only reason I went to Skylake from Sandy Bridge was because the girlfriend's PC died and she inherited it while I built something more compact since I always wanted to try an itx build. -- Kaby is only like 2-5% more performance from Skyline and Sandy Bridge is still a viable gaming chip today.

Unless you need more cores for something specific, save the cash.

I was thinking that after seeing all the reviews on kaby lake, whichever price is right between them that would decide SL or KL.

get a 5820k its the best price to performance x99 cpu.

Just because it's the best price-performance X99 CPU, doesn't mean he needs it. An X99 rig is at least $100-$130 more then a Z170/Z270 setup. Take that into consideration every time you suggest this please.

That's the shittiest advice I've ever seen on this forum, what  the hell.

Guy's got a near-golden chip i5 which is nowhere close to bottleneck for a 1070.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

he doesn't need that either like i don't need a ms masters i can just use a cheap dollar store mouse or i don't need to have many tabs open i can use a computer with 1 gb ram. we are enthusiast some of us try to get the best price to performance or just comfort.

You do realize that chip will still lose to a 3770k at 4.5 in GTAV and Witcher right?

Ok.. there is a difference between going overkill and spending your money smart. Don't get a 5820k if you don't NEED a 5820k. Save that $130 to go towards the next tier GPU or a good quality peripherals. There are more important things then having an X99 setup

he asked for x99 advice and that's what i did , i am not telling him to get one, i am just saying that 5820k is a good high tier CPU for the price if he wants a true upgrade he can get a 5820k. or a 3770k kabylake is not a good upgrade especially for the price.

I for sure would like to upgrade to a i7... hmmmm but like @That Norwegian Guy said I think I won the silicon lottery on this 3570k, i originally set it to like 5.1 and crazy voltages for it to die sooner so id have a reason to upgrade, but nope. stable and still running solid to this day.
