How do I graph xy=4? I know it is an ellipse that has asymptotes at the x and y axis. But how to I actually solve it and find out where the vertex is?

That's not an ellipse, it's hyperbolic. Though, since you said it has asymptotes, you're thinking of the right conic.

You can tell that it's centered at the origin because the expression only has the xy term, the form also tells you that the vertices will be on the line y=x (because it's symmetric about that line) so they'll be at the solutions to the equation xy=4 that satisfy the condition y=x.

I only know Desmos as a grapher. I actually use both Desmos and Wolfram rather frequently, 'cause Wolfram's not really the friendliest interface for graphs.
