6700k overclock

I got my 6700k up to 4.8GHz! It's a little less than 1.4volts on it. Think I can push 5.0GHz? I have a H105 on it now.

5.0 is way too high for a daily oc max you should go is 4.5 to 4.7.

If you have an AIO then I would keep it at 5

yeah. 1.4 volt is pushing the limits of what skylake can flow.

If most of the time hes gonna game when he is on his pc then its not bad idea and it wont kill it if its not overheating

he will keep his pc on and do other things then gaming i am assuming keeping his pc at 5 ghz might hard its life.

How does it score in Cinebench R15 at 4.8 GHz?

All depends on temps + volts, I've been running the OC listed in my signature for like.. 7 months I wanna say, and it's still perfectly fine.

All you did was play games after the OC?

 

You should stress test friend, otherwise you're never sure if it's going to be stable in games. You don't want to be in the middle of a boss fight when it crashes!

Be very careful once you get up in that level it starts to be iffy. You could be fine to 5Ghz or you could be horrible. 4.8 - 4.9 or 5ghz the heat basically goes up 10 to 15c per point after that

In game temps are irralevent for overclock. You need to run a bench mark like aida 64 to make sure it is both stable and good temps.

That's not exactly pushing the chip much.  You might actually want to stress it a bit as I'm positive that your temps will increase as you put a real load on that chip.

I've done that too. I stressed the CPU and it was hitting 55C to 60C max @4.8GHz on CPU-Z benchmarks

Weird to give a lower gaming temp when you had a higher stress temp.

 

Anyways, what did it score in Cinebench at 4.8GHz?

Haven't done cinebench runs besides the other benchs on CPU-Z

Ur temps worry me.....they are like 30c below what is excepTed of that cpu at that clock. I had one on water and at 4.8ghz it hit 91c

It's not very hard to boot Windows and open CPUz at a low voltage.    It is definitely more challenging to run RealBench for a few hours or provide a Cinebench screenshot, but I don't think any of that's actually going to happen at that voltage.

 

Anyways, here's my 8 core 5960x running at 4.9 GHz on all cores @ an easy 1.35v.    Look at those idle temps.
