Is RAM cooling worth it?

A friend of mine and I got into an argument about if liquid cooling your ram is worth it or not? Imo I think not but can someone convince me otherwise? What are the advantages and disadvantages?

No, not at all, not even a little bit. 

Ram barely puts out enough heat to warrant some of the larger oem heatspreaders, let alone dedicated cooling solutions to 'improve'  the performance of hardware already almost guarenteed to be running at top speed.

What justification did your friend use? It's hard to imagine how anyone would believe they had a strong case to actually argue this. Everything above is correct, it IS a waste unless your goal is pure aesthetics, and you're OK with the extra cost and work, inability to upgrade and increased risk... although the latter is probably somewhat moot given anyone watercooling no doubt accepts that. From a performance standpoint though, utterly pointless. Even the aesthetics argument is open to debate, as there's some really nice looking RAM out there these days.

100% for aesthetics unless you're going for a room temperature max ram overclock which won't benefit you in any practical application anyways.

Mine was hot to the touch like a gpu, I mine is under water now. No reason for it to be the hottest thing in my case. It was like having an amd card in there doing hair dryer stuff to all my components.

I know there are many people out there that say its not worth it, but I have smoked a few sticks in the past before they started putting RAM heat spreaders on. I found that even with the heat spreaders I would get a fewer BSOD and stable clocks when pushing the RAM if I put a fan over the RAM. I'm working on WC my RAM as we speak.
