I wanna get a cat as a pet and I know its a great responsibility to look after a little animal, so before proceeding is there anything important I should know about cats, how can I train them, how often should I feed them and how often should a veterinarian check them. About the concern of them shitting all over the house how can I train them not to do so and other stuff like that. BTW I'm getting it from a breeder not a shelter so what is the max price I should pay.

Sorry for the many questions

Edit: I cant be bothered to edit any mistakes, just deal with it I cant even English

Cats train you.

thas most of what you need to know, you dont own a cat, it owns you

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

You need to adjust to the cat, not the other way round.

And your house needs to be designed to keep the cat happy.

Also ask the person or whatever you get your cat from what he/she gets to eat. It's a good idea to get the same food.

A sudden switch in diet won't exactly help a cat feel home when you take it to its new place to live.

Little note, if your cat does his/her business right next to the litter box, it means the stuff in the litter box (sand, gravel thingy stuff whatever) hurts their paws so you need to get something else.

How's that?

Give it plenty of places to sleep and make sure it can reach high spots in your house.

Cats like to overlook things. It's comparable to a scout in a watch tower. Cats like that.

In my house for example are 2 4-story shelves, at the top of them there is a basket/nest thingy they can lay in and sleep. They use it every day multiple times.

And make sure they can actually reach them, yes they can jump high but when they are still a bit sleepy a 1+ meter drop isn't exactly something they look forward to.

A box. cats love boxes. Also, something high where the cat can sit and keep an eye on his territory (cats love high places too), and maybe a towel or pillow just for the cat (so there is something they feel safe with when you bring it to the vet or somewhere)

We have a stair of book shelves 1 meter away from each other that lead to the ceiling, just making it a bit more safe and I'm sure the cat will love it, and how can I achieve the multiple places to sleep thing? Also does the cold bother them much because the house isn't equipped with the best heating system and the temps (outside can go as low as -5 C)

Where i live the cats go outside too and it's like 0°C atm, they will come back if it's too cold so you don't really need to worry about temps.

Unless they are naked cats, they need a place to warm up 24/7 and a LOT of food.

The multiple places to sleep thing depends how much room you are prepared to dedicate to the cats.

I have a shelf in the living room and in the dining room. That's where i'm usually are so they can be in the same room as me overlooking the room :P

Scratching poles are usually an ideal thing for them.

They tend to be expensive tho, if you don't mind DIY'ing a bit i would recommend making your own.

If you have any carpets of fabric furniture, say goodbye to them. That cat is going to scratch the ever-loving fuck out of them.

Cats need something to scratch. Cats also like clean litter boxes. If you do not clean up the litter box regularly, expect to find things peed on.

Also cats aren't very trainable like a dog. You're more like their parent than a "master".

Remember you dont own the cat, the cat owns you. LOL

Pretty much from what I have seen you give them food and water. Clean their shit boxes and pet them when they want to be pet. Besides that cats take care of themselves.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
