How to get thermal paste out of CPU socket?

Any tips on how to get thermal paste out of a AM3+ CPU socket? Some got in there because the stuff goes everywhere and im trying to eliminate as many issues as possible (Something doesn't work after a OC)

So you bent a pin and got thermal compound in your motherboard socket... Now how is that AMD's fault again?

Since AMD doesn't use pins in the socket, you can head down to your local drug store, buy alcohol, and squirt into the socket by using a syringe.

acetone will remove the TIM and the shellac on the PCB, so do not use acetone without control.

TBH Im just pissed because I fucked up my first computer and I don't have money for a new one. I do think the bent pin is on them partly for CPU's being ripped out of sockets

Think that would help

Most definitely. Just need a firing range and few minutes. There's even a 100,000 round pouch for it!

That would probably clean my whole motherboard up and then give me a excuse to get intel

Yeah. Not sure if you read or not, but with the CPU in I can get power for about 1/4 of a second after a Clear CMOS. But when its removed it will just sit there, fans spinning

That sounds like the board is okay. If I had AMD boards leftover, I'd send you one.

I have a friend getting a 760G board or somethething for christmas (Holds a FX-6300). Might try my CPU in it but I don't want to brick his board

Compressed air, isopropyl alcohol, toothpicks, determination, perseverance and time.

I don't recommend acetone unless you really, really know what you're doing. It can destroy a board very quickly if not controlled.

I don't overclock often, so I have no idea.
