I have a hp dc7800 that uses a LGA 775 cpu and i was wondering which is the best cpu for gaming. im currently using a q9300 cpu but i want the best one i can get for this motherboard. i cant afford a new mobo or to buy a new system so an upgrade like this is my only option. any comments are welcome. thanks

You could check to see if it's compatible for the Core 2 Quad extremes (they're the best). Otherwise take a look at the Q6600 (not sure if it's better, but I know it's cheap). But yeah, that's about it.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.
