Wait, what would happen if there wasn't an OS? How would it appear?

How would the computer run?

Do you need an OS?

You can choose to use a Linux Distro for your OS. I have used Ubuntu in the past and its pretty easy. I have heard that Linux Mint isnt bad. Best part they are free.

With out and OS install the computer will Bitch that NO OS is installed. Simple as that. You generally would be put on a black screen with a message about no OS being available to boot.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

You could have a bios screen, or EFI shell appear to which you can type commands to see stuff about the computer and such.

WIndows 10 is the best and the newest, justgive 2 reasons why it's not..

Telemetry, Cortana, madatory updates on the home edition, the home edition doesn't allow Windows RDP hosting, there are also plenty of other reasons why.

The only reason I use it is because of dx12.

The Bad

Major Updates like the Anniversary Update have broken Shit.

Microsoft's collection of User data.

Forced Upgrades during the free Upgrade period.

Lack of Quality control with updates ( No longer have a professional Quality control team).

The Good

Faster Boot ups

Options to buy games on Xbox and have them available on Windows 10

Built in Anti Virus protection

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Cortana is good and telemetry is here for all the OS. I hate when people say "Oh, windows 10 is gonna spy you if you plan to do the 911 attack again, so I might just go to windows 7 or 8 because there is no telemetry, nuh, not at all I said". I mean Windows 10 is not spying you more then 7 and 8 did.

So true it hurts

Actually Windows 10 does spy more. They have to, in order to fix bugs. Because when something fucks up they have to send an error report to MS so they can see what happen. I think they record all, even key strokes. Windows 7 and 8 have the same treatment. Why? Well because Microsoft down sized and said fuck it to a professional quality control team. So now we are the testers. My biggest grip with Windows 10 isnt the spying. I have software that blocks a lot of it. I share very little with them. My issue is the lack of quality control. If I did not have to fear updating Windows because it could fuck up my machine. Then I would be right as rain with Windows 10. Instead Im looking at alternatives like Ubuntu and Fedora.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Linux in general Gaming takes a decent Hit Steam OS machines always ran games better on windows so it didnt make much sense on top of many reasons.  You get more out of your hardware typically if you just use windows and do as others have stated use the "Free" Version

I'd prefer an OS that I'm more comfortable with: Windows.

Not everyone is cut out for Linux. I use Linux because I understand it. If someone doesn't know what a computer would be like without an operating system, excuse me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they would understand the workings of Linux. Linux can be easy or hard, but it's not for everyone.

lets say things like they are, people NEED to learn linux in order to use linux, nobody used windows like it were their 2nd nature, it just happened that it was their first they learned and used, so changing their habits comes with resistance because they already know how to do that on windows in 2-3 clicks which is why microsoft holds  windows world in a tight grip

its everyone's choice in the end, i love my arch linux and everything i learned about it

What advantages does a Microsoft account have?

That the data gathered locally in your PC can be combined with the data gathered elsewhere under the same MS ID. Basically the equivalent of using a google account with android, chrome, etc.

To further add. Ubuntu isnt hard to use. About any one could figure it out. Like with Windows, Linux has gotten easier to use.
