Unigine Valley Benchmark Scores Thread + SUPERPOSITION ***Over 1000 Submissions!***

Broke new ground today!  Overclocked my CPU to a stable 4.8 GHz and took my time OCing my 980's.  Not bad for the cheapest 980's that EVGA sells.  LOL

Does overclocking your cpu help in valley? If that's the case I could potentially get a much better score hopefully. And is it just me or does everybody else get higher scores with their gpu in the second slot for single setups? I can't even get valley to do a full loop when it's at 1580 on the core if I have it in the first slot yet I can do 1592 in the second one ....

Mostly for SLI/Crossfire, but overclocking cpu can't hurt. I find faster System Ram helps bump up the fps a tad as well.

if thats what you like :) i like building a cpu over clock up from scratch. it feel more rewarding

With Haswell its been very unforgiving with overclocking with with Devils Canyon you have to push degrading amounts of voltage for anything past 4.7GHz benching stable. Which is were my 4770k is slowly showing signs of wear and degradation from it.

Dang ... my 1866 kit is already being pushed. For overclocking ram is it another version of chip lottery or just how high you are willing to bump the voltage? I've never looked into it before, I'm kind of curious now. I really wish i could voltage hack my 970 .... it would be such a beast.

Going to try the gpu overclock settings I used to achieve those scores but with th 4.7 GHz clock.

I upgraded my ram from DDR3 1600 CAS 9-9-9-24 to DDR3 2400 CAS 9-11-11-31

I noticed a slight increase in my benchmark scores

yeah i did a test the other day where I ran valley at different cpu frequencies (4.0 up to 4.7Ghz) with my ram at 2400Mhz, and then did the same tests with my ram at 1600Mhz. regardless of the cpu frequency and increased scores from cpu overclocking, my valley scores were 1-2 average fps higher with the faster Ram clocks. good to know I suppose.

I would love to try to squeeze some more score out of my system but my second card with the faulty temp sensor keeps holding me back, pretty much as soon as any load is applied to the card the temp shoots up regardless of how fast the fans are spinning.

Screenshot showing what's going on:

You can see that I have the fans running at 100% before I put load on the card and it's idling at 38c, as soon as I put load on it though it shoots right up to anywhere between 95-98c and then the clock starts throttling.

Here you can see the two cards both with their fans set to 100% and how their temps increase under load.

Ive tried everything, I've remounted the cooler about a dozen times using NTH1 and every single time the temp behavior does not change.

Boosting to 1254MHz. The 660s just got voltage, fan and TDP unlocked to 1.212mV, 20%-100% and 170% respectively. Voltage could do with increase but just a quick run was done.

3000 seems pretty difficult for me. probably easy if i mod the max voltage though

leqh2gC.jpg3bf8f8267e.png

don't qoute me on this but I have read that a lot of 970's are only pushing 3.5gb of memory even tho it is supposed to be 4gb .I think it was the hynix memory that is the troubled one and Samsung does not have this issue.

I see your memory load is only at 72%.

Like I said don't quote me in this area because I am no expert, just saying what I have read on this issue.

i know, i don't think it matters in 1080p valley though

Just thinking if your memory is getting throttled it could be hurting your frame rate.

doing a 4k run might see an issue. I think 1080p only uses ~1GB Vram give or take.

If you have a G1 Gaming 970 you can only do a max of 1.3v due to it being limited by the cards hardware.

MSI

Then you should be fine I wouldn't go past 1.35v on air with maxwell then. Also you will want a TDP Increase also.

you casn see in gpuz that its is using 999MB. you would never use more than 3gb at 1080p unless you were running some silly texture packs.

Im pretty happy with my 2 660Ti's :)
you need a gpuz screenshot as well please

Yeah i already increased the power limit. Max is now 300W. I'm currently trying to find the parts i want to a water cooling setup but seems like a TF5 block is pretty difficult to find

EK should have them, I'm not sure about other companies though.
