Is this good all compatible build? First time fresh start

Hi there,

I need some help/suggestions about my build would be much appreciated.

I've been using my dell xps 17 laptop for almost 6 years now (running gt555m graphics xD) finally saved up enough money for a good build! My budged is around £2500

I've compiled this build myself from the research that I've done Do you guys know if all these parts are compatible with one another? And can this build be improved for cheaper or better parts?

I would get an i7 6700k as i5 will be bottlenecked

You need Windows

The cooler should have thermal paste

Display Port or DVI Dual Link is what you need for cables

AX PSU is godly great but there are people who will complain about the price you pay for

Looks good...you will probably need to buy Windows.  I believe monitors come with the cables they use, but if you want extra HDMI cables or something, those are extra.  Also, use https://pcpartpicker.com/ it is much easier to look at everything and simpler.

What is this when it has an ''i'' in the psu for example

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00MFD2JAY/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

So if i need to connect the monitor straight to gpu what cable do i need, or do i connect the monitor to the motherboard i have no idea xD which one issit?

Is the paste included with the processor good or is there something better than i should buy separately?

What psu would you reccomend if any other for lower price?

In before 'there's no difference between the two in gaming... get the i5 6600K'.

There's countless benchmarks out there that shows that a i7 6700K indeed shows its benefits over an i5 6600K in gaming. The biggest area it excels at is providing higher minimum framerates and more consistent frametimes.

Get the i7 6700K and you won't have to upgrade the CPU for 5+ years.

there is a difference now, DX12 can make use of more than 4 cores, so having 4 cores 8 threads will yield better fps in games that can utilize hyper threading

What about the new 7700k is around the corner? maybe i should go for cheaper i5 for now and then upgrade or idk

Its not 50% better though,  the price to performance sucks.

if the actual i5-6600k bottlenecks the 1070 at 144hz, for sure i5 will bottleneck the 1080. And the new kaby lake hasn't any changes or differences compared to the actual skylake cpus unless that you wait the 8th gen (which is gonna be for 2017-2018?) moving from 14nm to 10 nm.

Basically, if you're gonna game, buy i5+1070, but if you're gonna render etc go with i7 or if you already have 1080 and yes, you won't gonna need to have a upgrade at least for 3 years

Remember to quote me (or someone else), otherwise we won't going to recieve your answers...

hmm but if i got for i5 and 1070 do you think they will be strong enough for that monitor at 3440x1440 resolution?

No. At least I don't think so.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

For now it will, but you'll need to upgrade often with that resolution, especially if you want good frame rates

That's an F in the profile pic

Within the spectrum of OP's build, 90 pounds is not much more to pay. And yes, the law of diminishing returns is going to come into effect eventually just like with GPUs... the i5 6600K does hold a better price/performance ratio but the benefits of the i7 6700K cannot be ignored or simply dismissed as 'insignificant'.

The i7 2600K was released in 2011 and it's still a very relevant product. In fact, with Intel now focussing on efficiency rather than performance, it's safe to say that the i7 6700K will hold up very well.

The i7 7700K is simply going to offer the marginal IPC improvement and early rumours suggest that it relies on high base/boost clocks to offer a performance increase... if you can wait for Kaby Lake, that's great. But the i7 6700K is going to be barely slower.

I never understood the mindset of buying an i5 now and getting a i7 later because it's ultimately going to be a waste of money if you can afford it now. Just get the i7 6700K (or i7 7700K) and you won't have to worry about the CPU for a decent amount of time.
