Is the i7-6700k worth it if coming from the i5-6600k? I know the easy answer is no, but considering i'm aiming for the ultra high end with a gtx 1080, possibly an SLI in the future, is it worth it?

And i've heard that the i5-6600k is already bottlenecking that GPU in a few games, i myself found out that the i5 reaches 100% load on BF1.

If you have the money, why not? Getting a i7 6700K can make a huge difference in more than a few games... the higher minimum framerates and more consistent frametimes are nice as well.

Well it's the best CPU for gaming atm, but the 7700k will be out relatively soon.

Also, don't do SLI unless you have the best GPU already, which in this case is a titan XP.

What resolution are you playing at? I would get a 6700K unless you are always playing at 4K. An i5 wont bottleneck at 4K. (Luke did a video showing the performance of Intel CPU's at 4K with a Titan XP and the i5 and i7 were identical and the i3 was only 8 fps behind)

so close to kaby lake, I would highly recommend waiting and getting a 7700k, it should be compatible with your current motherboard, and a bit better than a 6700k to boot.

I'm doing 1440p 144hz. I think i'll wait for the 7700k, any ideas on when it's going to be released? Or the price? I know i'm going for high end but if it exceeds 500$ i think i'll probably go for the 6700k.

It will probably be close to 400 like the 6700K was when it released, but it shouldn't take long for it to drop to around 350 or less.

Never herd of anything like that will Intel. You should be fine.

If Intel released a product that was bad within the first week, they would catch serious hell . Think about it, DIYers aren't the first ones to get Intel's new products, OEMs are. If there's a problem that Intel doesn't catch, whoops, there's now hundreds of thousands of units that have to be recalled or fixed somehow.

So I think it's safe to say Intel takes QA very seriously.
