Are 4k monitors worth it?

cummerou1

I saw that you could get a good, cheap 4k monitor (28 inches for 330 english slave bills) and it looked really tempting.

My question is, for stuff that is not gaming, such as movies, series, etc. is there enough content to justify buying a 4k monitor?

Unless you need it for a workstation, No.

As an owner of a 4K monitor, I would say it's not worth it unless you're a content creator. I hardly ever run my monitor at 4K because it's just annoying for everyday use and there's so little 4K content available.

For video editing, 3D modelling and such, 4K is great. I'd still say dual 1440P monitors would be better than a single 4K monitor for basically everything.

I'd say 1440p Ultrawide instead :P

I've had the chance to game at Ultrawide at 1080p. It's great for productivity (if we're only talking about single monitor use) and some games.

Finished Crysis without a discrete GPU,15 FPS average, and a lot of heart

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."

Why would anyone with an ultrawide want to limit themselves to a single monitor? :P

I didn't say "limit" I said if OP just wanted a single monitor setup that's good for productivity and games as well

4k is great for gaming immersion if done properly and have the hardware for it. But would say that it really shines on larger screensize then what you mention, so you are better of with 1440p or ultrawide.

I don't think its worth it, unless you wanna game with a 1080 SLI.
