Heres the final build, but I'm thinking on how to shave a couple of dollars.

I still have to get the WiFi card lmao

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZJFx2R

Well thats what I got it to, in your build  the CPU cooler isn't priced :P

If you wanted, we can save a few hundred dollers off by getting a i5 and a gtx 1070, or a xeon

but then he cant run ultra and get 144hz+ with a 1070

Hello! I haven't on these forums for a while, but it's about time I returned.  I need some help planning a new build for a friend.  He is new in PC gaming, but he knows enough to build one.  He understands what GPUs are, and CPUs etc.. Point is, he has $2k to blow on an entire rig.  The budget has to include monitor and peripherals.  And he doesn't use ethernet, so WiFi is a must.  Oh, and we want this to be as future proof as possible, meaning he won't have to upgrade major parts of the build within 4 - 5 years.  (We can go past $2k a tad bit if required).

- Thanks!

Oh, and he is going to use this rig for gaming, he does prefer monitors above 60hz!

check this build out the case can be changed as it is about preference for something like the h440 or enthoo pro or 600c. hdd can also be increased in capacity. if you prefer other brands of gpu u can change that too or go with the kraken x62. u get the drift thats whats so beautiful about building a pc.

It was 144hz though, the extra power would've been helpful to hit those higher frame rates.

I see lots of people here cheaping out on a 144hz panel...

PC specs seem logical, the keyboard if I were you I'd get custom PBT Keycaps, they cost prob $20-$30

Image result for quickfire blank keycaps

We could drop the price by going i5 6600k if hes just gaming @AndyKala

only if you replaced the 1070's with a single 1080 and put in a better SSD I would say it would of been a good build. It is better to have 1 powerful card then 2 (pretty much as equal to 1) card since multi gpu scaling causes issues with most games.

terrible logic on that mate. pretty much a majority of harden gamers would want a single powerful card over dual since SLI/Xfire support is poor.

if you went with the 24'' you could of went with a 1080

the VG248QE and the GN2lh Both have horrid panels and color reproduction (Yea I know TN but honestly its just the viewing angles) compared to the $500+ model panels

Although that is logical marketing its so much better to go 1440p ips 144hz than 1080p TN 144hz

The difference is significant

maybe u misunderstood me - i was talking about aesthetic purposes- people with that kind of money to spend obviously want a good looking build - and sli just fills up the space - it just looks better than 1 gpu
