144hz VS 1440p

Percenary

I was finally able to upgrade to a 1070. Now, I just need a new monitor. Now, would 1440p or 144hz be better? I don't really have experience with either so I don't really know what either of them are like. I have a 1440p compatible phone, but that is on a 5.5 inch phone. I play a variety of games, Battlefield, gears, Forza, etc.

My Current Rig:

are you realy competative and do you need the 144hz go for that, if you dont and like to have a better image over a higher fps go for the 1440p, and if possible pick up a monitor that does both

It is when you have no idea what to get. I've always had 1080p, 60hz monitors.

Just ask yourself, do you care about super high framer area for multilayer games, or do you car more about things looking good. Bear in mind that the difference between 1080p and 1440p and 60fps 144fps won't be as big as the difference between 720, 1080 or 30fps to 60

Alot of people have trouble comparing the two. More common ones I see is 4k vs 144hz. Its a tough thing cause you can go for a more smoother experience with 144hz or better imagine quality and have the horse power to back it up(1070)

1070 can handle some 4K games, just at lower settings and frame rates than the 1080.

Resolution first, then refresh rates.

Unless you play CS GO or any FPS game like.. professionally...

Personnaly I would pick 144 hz if you play only FPS games, and 1440p for other games,

That said, the 1070 is "struggleing" a bit in 1440p for some recent games, so what in 1-2-3 years...

If you intend to keep that set up for some years , go for 1080p 144hz as the 1070 might struggle for real in the next years in 1440p
