what is core i3 6100 , 6100T , 6100M , 6100U...

Go to solution Solved by TidaLWaveZ,
  • C – Desktop processor based on the LGA 1150 package with high performance graphics
  • H – High performance graphics
  • K – Unlocked
  • M – Mobile
  • Q – Quad-core
  • R – Desktop processor based on BGA1364 (mobile) package with high performance graphics
  • S – Performance-optimized lifestyle
  • T – Power-optimized lifestyle
  • U – Ultra-low power
  • X – Extreme edition
  • Y – Extremely low power

While  I am searching for best core processor under I3 , I found that each having the same generation number 6100  but having one alphabet additional added at the end like

6100

6100M

6100T

6100U ... so what is the difference between them ?

The 6100 is the best.

M = Mobile

T = Power optimized lifestyle

U = Ultra low power.

But why processor having U as a suffix(6100U)  are costly and also the ranks among other is lower compared to 6100 , 6100T ?

C is also unlocked, by the way. These processors were effectively Broadwell's K-sku desktop CPUs.

Because they are harder to manufacture

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

It's a mobile CPU. The 6100 is desktop and I believe the 6100T is to.

i3-6100 is the base i3-6100. It operates at 3.7 GHz.

i3-6100T is the i3-6100 desktop CPU with the reduced TDP, and operates at 3.2 GHz.

i3-6100U is the mobile i3-6100 CPU with an even lower TDP, it uses BGA, and it operates at 2.3 GHz. It's also limited to 12 PCIe lanes.

There isn't an i3-6100M.

OKK, Its harder to manufacture but if its harder than , why to build if its not giving the better performance as compared to lower budget one like 6100T , like there must be some advantages i think that is why they are manufacturing U one..

but I am not getting an Advantage

sorry I  mistakenly wrote 6100M. So those who operates in higher GHz are better or vice -versa

Because it's supposed to draw less power, not perform better.

Because the 6100U has a 7.5 watt TDP vs the 6100's 51 watt power draw. The performance is lower but the performance per watt is much much higher. Also produces a lot less heat so it can be put into notebooks without fans.

When in doubt, re-format.

Binning a chip to use very low power while delivering reasonable performance is a long and expensive progress.
