So I wanted to upgrade my graphic card to play battlefield 1 with a higher fps. The card i used was a gtx 660 and changed it to a gtx 1060 6gb. The fps I got on my 660 was around 40-30 and now with the 1060 6gb i only get 50-40. I expected alot higher fps with the 1060 6gb after watching some gameplay videos on youtube with that card and they had about 90 fps.

I got the computer 4 years ago and maybe there is something else that needs to get an upgrade before I can see a higher result with my fps.

What does affect the fps besides from the graphic card? Can it be my CPU? I currently have an i5 4430. I don't know alot of computers so any help would be appreciated. :)

CPU should be fine but go into the Geforce experience client if you have it installed and disable the share feature because aparently thats a real FPS hog

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

What SETTINGS are you running the game at? I'm sure if you used the same settings, you'll see a marketed improvement... a 660 does NOT get 50 FPS in BF1 on Ultra, that's for sure.

Apparently it was on so I turned it off and I tested my fps in game. I got 60 fps so it worked. Huge thanks. But in the youtube videos this grapic card should be able to reach 90 fps. I don't know how yet.

well if you can reach 60 thats good atleast, maybe you run different settings from what they use in the benchmark video? more MSAA or something?

Hmm I forgot to mention that. With my 660 I had medium graphics 50-40 fps and now with my 1060 I have ultra with 50-40. What confuses me is that I have seen it is capable to reach 90 fps on ultra.

You are probably mistaken. I'm quite positive the 1060 cannot do 90 FPS in a game such as BF1. Maybe in certain singleplayer scenarios, but not in multiplayer, that's for sure. :P

He's got an i7 6700K too...  also, his game is using 8GB of system RAM too... I don't know how much RAM you have, but I guarantee the reason for your performance issues are a combination of the game not being run on an SSD, as well as not having an i7 and probably not having enough RAM to compensate.

i think its that his resolution scale is different, could be wrong but he has it at around 40%

SSDs dont give you more FPS, just faster loads if anything

Wanna bet? Load Fallout 4 onto an SSD vs a HDD and we'll see the differences light up right quick. :P Bigger games will have an FPS improvement. BF1 is no different.

Thx this is exactly the information I need. I have problems finding out if stuff needs an upgrade or not. Is it worth buying a i7 6700 instead of an i5 4430? I will try to see how much RAM I have. And my game is running on a SSD

I tested to lower my resolution scale to 40% but the only problem is that it's really hard to see anything and it is a really blurred image. I can try to change to a lower resolution that works with me though.

I was going to upgrade to a 1070 but found the 1060 more than enough. I may upgrade cpu and mobo just trying to save.

The 1060 can pull bug FPS. I have a MSI OC 6GB GT that i can overclock to 2MHz with average temp at 65-70 degs. I don't keep do it very often because I've found it doesn't need to be. I play BF1 as well mostly and Doom.

1. Are you aware BF1 is capped at 60hz/60 FPS ? You will need to un-cap that in game for more FPS.

2.

what is the max MHZ on your monitor?

You need to know what MHZ your monitor is. Look up the monitor you have and then link or type up what you have found.

3. What 1060 is it ? And have you disabled capped VRM in the BF1 settings ? I think Nvidia does that automatically but check!

4. What scale resolution is BF1 running at ?

5. Which 1060 ?

Lastly, I'm in a 29inch LG wide-screen monitor, max settings including 15% increase in scale resolution at 5128 X 2164 ( cant remember the numbers exactly, I'm just on a train) and it's wasy getting stable 60fps. And i havent uncapped the FPS.. no point anyway..

Hope this helps :)

I saw no improvement in fps putting Fallout 4 on my 850 EVO. I did see a big improvement after upgrading from DDR3-1600 to DDR3-2400 though.

Processor makes almost no difference in BF1, i5 should perform almost identically to an i7, His is an older gen but it really shouldn't be significant.

Also SSD? What does that have to do with anything?

It makes a massive difference when the processor is a full 1GHz faster. That alone would make a huge difference in games like BF1. The main issue is the system RAM I've just witnessed being used in that game: Just shy of 8GB... o_o
