Okay so I'm starting to buy old PC's and parts to make myself another machine and possibly sell it later for a friend.

Im just curious.. Can EVERYTHING be replaced in it?

Say that it's an 1155socket MOBO, can I just slap an i5 3570k into it and call it a day? (Assuming I have a cooler, thermal paste and the power to run it)

Is there anything besides the obvious I have to think about?

Thanks!

you should be able to as long as the motherboard BIOS supports it

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Well, by putting it a i5 or i7 3xxx you're "killing" the machine, cause if he wants to upgrade it in the future he'll have to change the motherboard

My friend simply wants something that runs games, settings turned down matters not.
