How often do i need to clean my PC?

just tilt
Go to solution Solved by minibois,

1. depends on how dusty it is in your home and the amount of fans you have (and just general hotness of stuff in your PC). every year a big clean up and every couple months a small clean up is a good habit.

2. just clean it regularly, there is not really different ways to clean fans :P you can get canned air or a data vac, but it's not necessary.

3. dust build where intake is, so at fans mostly. It can also fall on stuff where there is no airflow, like on HDD's.

4. dust filters.

How often do i need to clean my PC? Every 2-3 months, every 6 months or once a year? What's the best method to clean it? Where are the common spots for dust build up? How to prevent dust build up?
Thanks in advance :)

Depends on your fan setup and case. Id recommend once a month

Every 6 months is fine. It won't degrade your performance.

Pro tip; Hover your house more and you don't need to clean as often. I do mine biannually.

well, specifically the room that your computer is in. I will clarify that in the UK hover is what the rest of the world call a vacuum.

I built my rig around August 2015 and I've never cleaned the inside. The dust covers in the front of the case do such a great job and the dust I've observed through the window in the side of the case, with a strong light, shows that the layer of dust inside is more thin than a rizla.

But occasionally I put a vacuum cleaner on the front of the case to suck the dust off, it's where air passes through the filter. It's really easy. My case is the Cooler Master Storm Trooper.

It depends on the environment the system is in and the system itself.

I clean my dust filters maybe 1-2 times a year.

It doesn't matter a whole lot. Once or twice a year is plenty, but you can do it more often if you like.
