GTX 1060 3GB or RX 480 4GB?

I am looking for a $200 graphics card, so I am considering the GTX 1060 3GB or the RX 480 4GB. I play games at 1080p. I am leaning toward the 1060, since the AMD drivers are not as good. Which one should I get?

first, title says 1080 3gb lol, 2nd AMD drivers aren't bad where did you get this idea from?

Overall the 1060 is better with DX 11 but when it comes to highly optimized DX 12 games and when they utilize all the extra features and can lower the Overhead the RX480 does perform better some times, it depends on the game. in the future the RX 480 could be performing better or the 1060 could be performing better. only time would tell but the safer option would be the 1060

Jokes aside, I would go 1060 for the slightly better performance in DX11 games and better software features

Yes you would, many games now need more than 3Gbs when maxed out at 1080p

RX 480 vs 1060 3GB, 480 wins. 1060 6GB vs RX 480 8GB, 1060 wins, the 1060 3GB has a few less CUDA cores

This isn't true. fuck 2GB can get filled quickly in 1080p its not just about resolution 4GB can be used up quickly with heavily modded games and good textures. please stop talking about shit you don't completely know. this was true maybe a couple years ago but no longer

I would say get the 480. It is faster than the 1060 3GB and lasts a little longer as AMD (sometimes) gets better driver support in the future.

2GB can get filled quickly in games, however graphical setting optimization for your hardware is something we should all be doing. I know we have 780Ti users here with Zero issues involving Vram limitations. More Vram is nice, but not necessary to have a quality experience in games.

I do tend to agree, I believe that at the same price the 480 is likely the better choice but the 1060 3GB will perform very well. If you have a preference, then go with it, they'll both perform well.

I see you have an amd system, maybe radeons discriminate against non amd cpus. 

 

P.S. Catalyst was ok. Crimson is shit. Only issues I ever had with nvidia was display driver stopped responding 2 years ago with new drivers. But I went back to older drivers and everything worked just fine.
