Computer that is cheap and can handle SFM well?

AniJan

So, I recently got into SFM, but it's extremely laggy when I use it. So, is there any computer that can handle SFM very well, and that's cheap?

Damn, it looks good. Oh crap, I forgot. I got carried away and I forgot that my parents probably won't let me buy this.

Sorry Coaxial, but is this PC offer going to stay like this until, you know, like 2-4 years?
I'm sorry, I got cocky.

didn't see that deal . If it's indeed 163$  , then OP should definitly get this . IMO i3 is fine , especially since FSM ( and source in general ) is very single-threaded

what do you mean ?

If you're not going to be building the pc for at least a few years , then their definitely will be better parts by then

What I mean is that I got too carried away about the PC that I forgot my parents won't let me buy the PC.

Also, are these parts going to be on sale on like Black Friday?

probably . Can't guarantee anything , but they most likely will be .If not these exact parts , then similar ones

So, I was researching online, and I found this build that is much cheaper than your build. But I don't know if it is efficient or not. If not, then I'll use your build:

CPU AMD FX-6300

BUY

MOBO Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3

BUY

GPU EVGA GTX 950

BUY

RAM Crucial Ballistix Sport 4GB

BUY

HDD Seagate 250 GB

BUY

CASE Rosewill Dual Fans

BUY

PSU Antec VP-450W

I had to Google SFM - and I'm still not sure what it is. It's probably either a video editor or sound recording system. It would be helpful if posters wouldn't assume that everyone knows what these initials mean and take the few seconds to type it out. :)

If it is a video or audio editor, then you probably can't get a computer that is both cheap and runs it well.

It's also hard to tell if something will run it better, when we don't know what you're using now.

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.

i5-6600, 16Gigs, ITX Corsair 250D, R9 390, 120Gig M.2 boot, 500Gig SATA SSD, no HDD

Well that build is significantly less powerful...

For one the gpu is about half as powerful,  and the cpu is considerably weaker ( considering SFM is very single  threaded).  Plus it's based on AMD's old Am3+ piledriver platform,  which came out in 2012.

If you're going to buy the parts in a year or more,  then i would definitely wait for zen (amd's next gen cpu platform)

The case, psu,  hdd and mobo are also of lesser quality

It stands for source film maker.  Basically software where you can create your own animations,  movies and etc using valve's source engine

I was looking at the compatibility notes for the PC parts, and it said that the Fractal Design supports up to 350 mm. However, it also states that video cards bigger than 255 mm can block some drive bays?  What does that mean. Does it mean that it'll limit some things about the computer set up?

Hold on. Do I have to spend more money to get cords for power, connecting the monitor, et cetera?

The power supply cables come in the box,  and the gpu or monitor usually has at least an hdmi cable.  You might have to buy a displayport cable if you want one,  but those are pretty cheap

What do you mean? Pcpartpicker doesn't seem to say anything about that ( unless you are talking about your build,  which,  but you didn't provide a link).

Basically it means that this case officially supports cards up to 350mm in length.  But if it is above 255mm in length,  it might not fit in the case without removing the drive bays,  which might block the card from being inserted.

ah, one more thing. Is there a monitor that's good quality but is below $70?

Cheapest 1080p i could find atm was this

http://pcpartpicker.com/product/7cw323/acer-monitor-umwg6aab01

Your best bet is to either wait for black Friday or look at used monitors.  There are 768p and 900p monitors for  cheaper,  but they aren't worth it.

Also.

Does the computer by default have a usb drive where I can plug in my flash driver etc?
