Hey guys I was thinking about custom pcs and even custom laptops and then I thought wont it be super cool if we could build or someone could pre-build us custom phones.. for example similar to pcs we could choose cpu, ram, screen etc I know some phone companies let you choose how much ram but it would be better if we could choose almost everything that goes inside the phone what do you think?

Same thing like building our own laptop. Too hard for such a tight space.

You wouldn't be able to build it yourself.

You don't have the machines necessary to build and solder components that small.

The best you could do is order one to spec and have a company build it for you.

Otherwise you need to wait a week to get educated.

 

The closest thing to building one yourself is a "modular smartphone" like the concepts we've seen for the past half decade that never become a reality.

google tried doing that and i think it finally got cancelled in r&d this year
