Cooler height AMD a8 7600

simson0606

Hey guys,

I have a small question about the stock cooler of the a8 7600. I want to fit this into a restricted case and I want to know if I'll have to buy a smaller (noctua low profile) cooler for it.

so does anyone know what the stock cooler height is? I can't seem to find it anywhere online

cheers!

Stock coolers are normally the smallest coolers you can get.

i need it to be a bit more specific though. the case is the IX-01B from chieftec, and with the hdd bracket installed it allows for about 47mm cooler hight. the noctua low profile cooler si about 37 so i know that that will fit. but if i can save about 50 euros on a cooler i'd like that. (it's for at the office and it will consist out of multiple machines so those 50 euros will add up quickly)

I'm getting the feeling that these cpus are going to get rater toasty :P they will have no airflow and the stock cooler is terrible,  I suppose for office use you might just get away with it.  Wouldn't it be cheaper to get a more sensible case with a bit more room?

do they get that toasty? they will be used for remote desktop mainly. the only choice for this cpu is the availability here and the fact it has the r7 gpu that supports eyefinity.

we want to use eyefinity to combine 2/3 screens and leave one separate so we can span 1 rdp session over 2 screens and 1 over a single one. (something m$ really needs to fix in rdp... because you can choose between 1 screen or all screens...)

The small case is because we want to mount it under a desk out of the way (this is combined with a whole renovation where computers need to be mostly invisible)

I have been thinking about the larger brother of this case. just in case this would get too toasty. (get it, in case :P)

if i cannot find we might have to build just 1 system and bite the bullet on the cooler hight/toastiness. Worst case we have to re use a single 30 euro case for a different purpose.

That apu is only 65W, it shouldn't be getting hot at all, the stock cooler should be fine, f you were putting a fx series cpu, or anything over 95w then you should worry.

The amd stock cooler is 41mm.

I only found one thread saying 46mm http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2686305/amd-8320-stock-fan-dimensions.html Yes, I know its not for same CPU, but I'd assume AMD is as lazy for making many different kind of stocks as Intel.

Some cooler makers sell the stock coolers, but just put their logo on them, this is the stock cooler that should ship with any fm2+ cpu (besides the ones with the wraith cooler)

They use a different one for am3+, same mounting system, but the am3+ one has heatpipes.
