Good god never buy a U1 rack server that isn't cable managed well from the factory. No offense HPE but its taken well over two hours to get this far. I hate this kind of cable management, it doesn't even look that good, this is a nightmare. So tiny, so many cables, so little room.

Why not drill some holes, to run the cables below the rack? Or will that cause problems...

It's a U1 chassis. At most he has about 0mm under the bottom. Unless you mean straight through the chassis.

Your zip ties is suppose to be RGB not RGBBW (red, green, blue, black, white) :P

I was colour coding them (Red for SAS, yellow for fans, buttons/inicators, green for USB, blue for PSU/power) but I ran out of blue ones.

That isn't really an option, the server wouldn't sit level, would fuck it up in the rack and possible let air out and impact cooling.

This is cables you're not even going to see. I never understood why people make a big deal out of that. It looks good enough already in my opinion.

the fans are tiny and the noise from the cables flapping in the air was annoying.

It also allowed dust to build up in the corners and under them.

If it helps I usually use extensions to run cables along the sides rather than next to the fans.

well, fuck, the server is claiming a fan is missing or failed (maybe the connector got knocked loose) BUT FUCK, THE FANS WENT EVEN LOUDER THAN WHILE ON POST, I THOUGHT THAT WAS 100% BUT IT ISN'T, FAIL SAFE MODE IS EVEN LOUDER! Oh the irony.

I went and recorded the server booting, and the missing fan response, which was nothing short of ear pounding, The video is still processing, it'll be a minute or two more, actually I'll wait until it's live to hit submit.

It sounds wonderful with 5.1 speaker fill. Did you throw a Yu-gi-oh card over the edge?

No, it was some label off a decoration for spooky night. That was to show the amount of air moving through this thing.

If you are not satisfied with it, you don't want cable management: you want invisible cables :P

I am actually really happy with how it looks now, it was just AMAZINGLY harder than even a cheapy case.
