1070 cuz SLI is pretty strange and a lot of games dont support it

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

From the owner of a 970 SLI setup, get a 1070. Seriously my SLI setup is working so badly, my browser keeps blacking out the entire screen when browsing websites and my games lagged so badly I had to disable it. SLI is just awful. I'd of been better off burning my money.

Lol @ burning your money !!!

Was fun. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

It's fun how when you check videos and charts, SLI is awesome !! But in real life, people hates it...

Thats why I sold my 970 and gave up on sli and get a 1070 2 weeks ago :)

You don't just need games with "SLI support," you need games that scale to at least 70% with SLI to achieve parity with a 1070, which is at least better than average. Then there's the issue of poorer frame latency with SLI, which does seem to still be an issue in some games.

Yeah It's strange how on benchmarks in games my setup supposedly roasts a 980Ti yet in real life I don't get anywhere near that level of performance. What issues were you having with your SLI setup? Also do you know what GTX 970's resell for these days? Might be worth selling mine for a 1070 or even a 1060 6GB.

It'd probably be close to the same performance so get the 1070.  As for the guy who said all these different things were messing up with SLI, sounds like you had a bad card or a bad bridge.  Currently using SLI 980s and love it.  There is occasionally games that don't support SLI, but those can usually run fine with a single 980 or SLI just wan't properly implemented at release and usually gets updated.  Don't believe everything you hear about SLI being bad.  If you can afford it and can justify the use of SLI then go for it.  However I would hold off on using SLI if there is a single card solution that's equal to it.  Meaning don't SLI your cards if another generation of cards are released, in the end you are just hurting yourself.  But if say you got the 1070 then decided you wanted another shortly after I say go for it.
