Video Encoding?

I have a couple of videos on my computer that I would like to edit using Davinci Resolve but when I open Resolve and go in to select the files I want to edit they do not appear there for me to select, I am suspecting this is an encoding issue but what do you guys think the problem is?

I just tried it but the videos are still not discoverable by Resolve, so i think the problem is something else
