New GTX 1080 - No signal

Senzelian

Hey everyone,

just got my new GTX 1080 from EVGA.
I didn't think I ever need help with something as simple as a graphics card install.

So, I plugged the new graphics card, started my PC and I get no signal. Here is what I tried so far:

  • Reconnected the graphics card multiple times in two different PCI-e slots
  • Connected different PCI power cables, to make sure the cable works.
  • Tried different DIsplayPort and HDMI cables.
  • Connected the graphics card in a different system. It works there.
  • I made sure that the graphics card is properly connected to the motherboard.
  • Only used one stick of RAM and tried it in every single RAM slot. Also tried different RAM slots.

The PSU worked absolutly flawless with my previous two graphics cards. I don't think that is the problem.

Here are my specs:

  • Intel Core i7 6700K
  • ASUS Z170 Sabertooth S
  • 4x 4GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 2800Mhz
  • 120GB and 2x 1TB Samsung 850 Evos
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 ACX3.0
  • Corsair AX760i 80+ Platinum PSU

Hopefully someone has some suggestions on what else I could do...
Thanks in advance :)

Yup. Fans are spinning on startup, then stop because of that "zeroFan-mode" thing
Light are also turned on.

Like I said, the GPU is working in a different system.

Previously there were two GTX 980s installed. I don't have them anymore.
They worked flawless tho.

What you can try and do is this :

  • Shut down your PC
  • Connect your GPU
  • Plug your monitor direct to the motherboard at the back
  • Turn on the PC
  • Load up and download/install your new graphics card drivers
  • Shut down the PC
  • Plug in the monitor to the graphics card at the back
  • Boot up the PC

Try these steps and see if you still get no signal.

I'll try that next. Currently I'm updating the BIOS.
But first have to find how to enable the iGPU when a GPU is installed.

Shut down and uninstall drivers (DDU ofc) before installing it again. Drivers hate installs of new cards, even if they're from the same company as before.聽

Did that already two times. :P

I removed all drivers with DDU.
I wasn't able to install the new drivers without a graphics card installed.

So what I did now is to update the BIOS, which worked, enable the iGPU so it worked when a GPU is connected and I will now try to install the drivers while the GPU is connected. Maybe that works.
