Skylake energy question

Go to solution Solved by SLAYR,

It would only lower the power bill by a dollar or two per year, and how cool / quiet the chip runs depends on the cooler. A cm 212 evo will bring down the temps, and be a lot quieter then the stock cooler.

My current computer is in my spoiler.
Anyways, my main focus is if switching from Fx 6300 (am3?) to I5 6600(k) skylake would lower my (mom's) energy bill?
My second
"side question" is if the skylake version is quieter and cooler (less heat) than my current system?

Note:
I live in Sweden (EU), not in USA.

1 - no, FX6300 uses about 40W more under full load and similar amounts while idle - you will save less than 2$ monthly
2 - depends on the cooler.

The difference in energy consumption will not be noticeable, maybe a few dollars.

There will be less heat produced but the noise level depends entirely on the cooler and fan you're using.

is if the skylake version is quieter and cooler

k series doesn't have a cooler, and for the 6600 non k the stock intel cooler is better than the stock amd cooler but is still loud and crappy

As for power bill umm that doesn't matter much, let's say you save 50W, and power costs 20cents per kwhr, you'd be saving $2.40 a month if you used your computer 8hrs a day not really a big deal.

Actually - Wraith Cooler is worlds ahead of Intel's pitiful cooler :)

Okay, thanks y'all.
I'll be doing a new thread in new builds, and planning sometime soon.
When money starts rollin' in.

I might be going for a different cpu cooler (probably similar pricing though).
