Keeping this short and simple...

Why do you guys act like you hate on apple/mac? Yeah they are overpriced but I see a lot of people bitching about EVERYTHING not just the price. In my opinion, I think that Apple is an amazing company but yes, their prices are a bit too high. If the Macbook Pro was $600-1000 I would be running one right now and if the Mac Pro was half price I would also have one of those .etc. Just wanted to know if you guys feel the same.

I don't hate apple. Their products are very nice aesthetically. But I think the PC guys are just saying you can get more performance for the amount of money you spend.

I don't like the OS and the fact that I can't run a lot of my programs, besides that I would recommend an Apple device to anyone who likes the Apple environment.

Also, don't get upset or try to defend them. They are popular. Just not here. We are a website dedicated to building PCs... in the world of Apple that is LITERALLY not existent. If we could go out and build a mac (not a hackintosh) with full support from hardware and Apple I think it would be a LOT more popular here.

Personally, I think that a hackintosh is a cool idea/thing but it kind of ruins the "Mac" feeling, if I really needed to run Mac on a system for something special then I would build one but other than that then a "Legit" mac it is.

a Mac is a PC.

I don't dislike Apple at all, not to mention that the market needs them. If you look at innovation in mobile computing (laptops, ultra-books, smartphones and tablets) much of the innovation has been driven by Apple. No one was making laptops that cared about aesthetics before Apple; touch-screen mobile devices, thank Apple; functional tablets, Apple; high res screens on mobile devices, Apple; the list goes on. Its been great for Apple and has driven the market to produce better products. As for their cost, it really depends on the product, the Macbook Air (especially at the beginning of a release cycle) is often a very good deal, same for the 15 inch Macbook Pro. The major issue is that Apple doesn't update their products every 4-6 months and rarely changes their prices, so when you get towards the end of a release cycle their computers tend to be less of a good deal. When Apple switched over to Intel architecture they opened up to a much wider array of windows programs (not all yet); as for the issue of openness it goes both ways, having a closed system allows for more quality control while ensuring that all their customers get the same experience (just look at the fragmented Android platform). Apple often gets made fun of for caring too much about looks, but how many here on this forum have spent hours/days/weeks modding their desktop to look just the way they want it (I have, check my sig). Aesthetics are good, and in all honesty they are what the consumer wants (look at the plethora of Macbook Air clones). I love PC, wouldn't give it up, that doesn't mean their isn't room for Apple or that Apple makes bad products.

They are not that bad at all. They brought back great displays and build quality. Some HP Laptops actually use similar designs. More of a principle thing at this point.

Personally I like iPhones and iPads a lot, I'm nat a big fan of ios.

However I like Mac OS X more than windows.

Yeah, my Family has about 3 HP laptops (one is Compaq, owned by HP) and they gave very similar designs.

I have a friend w/ a macbook and he absolutely hates it. he got it for free from his grandparents so he cant really bitch to much, but he has issues with it 24/7 trying to get certain games to work etc, and other types of things he wants to do at times he has to jump through 13241324 hoops

The reason why I don't like them, is the way their marketing takes advantage of people's general lack of knowledge about technology to make them believe that Apple is inventing everything that matters in the computer world and runs on magical rainbow tears. Just remember the hype they had about the iOS update that gave you *video*. From reading those ads, you would have thought that it had never been done before and was the most amazing technological prowess ever accomplished. It's that kind of intellectual dishonesty that that takes me from not using them to not liking them.

i like Apple, i have a Macbook pro retina, iphone and ipad. I also have a PC.

 

With my windows PC, i go to install flash player and it asks me if i want the google toolbar or whatever for IE, sometimes i don't read everything and assume it's part of the install process and just hit accept. Now i just installed crap that i don't want! When I install flash player on my Mac, it just installs flash player and nothing else. Also all the programs an in packets that are easily removable. On windows i have to delete multiple directories sometimes. I see Macs as the platform for easy and lazy. PC is more capable but sometimes gives me headaches.

 

All my music and my video editing is done on my Mac. My PC is for gaming, file/porn storage and TV tuner

 

I also have Apple stock, the more apple stuff i buy, the more i reinvest in my portfolio....

 

There are some things I don't like with Apple, I think they are too extreme with patent lawsuits and I would like some more customization on iOS.
