Liquid Cooling for a laptop? Would you buy it? I think its pretty cool for ASUS to build a laptop capable for liquid cooling...

No, it's an overpriced gimmick that makes a portable device even less portable.

At this point other laptops with similar specs are in the same boat so slapping water cooling on it is sorta worth it I guess. The battery life on all these mobile workstations is less then an hour so I wouldn't plan to use it as a portable device anyways

I for one, would like to see a thin but high surface area radiator on the back of the screen (pump and fan solution engineering would be interesting!!!) if you are going to engineer a solution for a LC'd laptop.. Lets be honest... these types of devices (I am a user of a msi GT72 so large laptops are not unknown to me) already are nothing more than a "more portable" desktop, an extra two inches of overall height closed and total depth when opened is not going to be a deal breaker. Those of us that use large "mobile" workstations are not shocked, while the rest of the mobile users shouldn't even be questioned as the typical, "omg so huge" comments have no bearing on the actual product and its intended use cases. I am upgrading to a GT73VR Titan as of now as the GT83 and the dual power bricks actually tick my cant do box because I actually carry my laptop everyday (all 15lbs of it and accessories) but it sure would be awesome to have an sli rig that doesn't sound like a GEnx Turbofan spooling up when the fans are on high.

Some people here do say that it seems like a gimmick, I rather think it is an interesting idea, although the execution was not ideal.

 

The biggest problem with laptops is the cooling, you can stuff a GTX 1080 and a 6700K into a Macbook sized laptop without too much difficulty. The problem is that it will turn into a fusion reactor faster than it takes Windows to boot from an NVME SSD.

 

The idea what I find interesting is to outsource the cooling, move the cooling outside of the laptop, which can only be done well with a water loop, yes there are fan attachments and laptop coolers, but watercooling is what I believe works by far the best.
