Just built a new PC, but no idea how to integrate my old SSD properly

I just built a new PC, my very first solo build actually. I put in my old SSD (which contains my OS and programs) and was surprised to find that my new hardware booted from it. Is it normal that my OEM copy of Windows 10 was recognized and booted straight from my old SSD like that? I even bought a new OEM copy of Windows 10 because I thought my old one would no longer be valid on my new hardware.

If this is just a fluke, I'd like to know how I could go about reinstalling Windows on that same SSD without affecting my installed programs, etc.

Thanks!

If it doesn't complian about the activation, don't worry about it, it will work fine.

That's a relief! I dunno what to do with my other copy of Windows now though. Haha!
