First Gaming Build

tsmale23

I am planning out my first build. I have a budget of $2000 USD but I would love to spend less if possible. I'm not looking to build anything super crazy like 4k gaming or anything. So, with A LOT of research, this is what I came up with. Please let me know if you have any concerns recommendations etc.

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken x61 280mm Liquid Cooler

Motherboard: ASUS Z170-A ATX

Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 240GB SSD

Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB FTW Gaming ACX 3.0 Video Card

Case: Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5 ATX Mid Tower Case

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA GS 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

OS: Windows 10

Monitor: LG 24GM77 24.0" 144Hz Monitor  x2

Two things, get a i7 6700K. Also get a mechanical hard drive for extra storage. As far as the GPU, get a GTX 1070 or 1080. Everything else is completely up to you and you should get what you want.

Thanks, but I accidentally posted it before I was done. And do you really think I need an i7? I know it has multi-threading, but from all the research I found that most games don't need it. Then again, you know more than I do

There are more games now that performs better with a i7. Also a GTX 1070 or 1080 will perform better with a i7. Otherwise I can't recommend anything else because the other parts are "personal taste". I use a i7 because I'm a heavy multi tasker and I run a decent amount of computational programs on my PC.

ok, thank you for the recommendation.

So what is the advantage of having a 1080p monitor @144Hz and a 1440p monitor @60Hz?

Use the 1080p monitor for gaming and the 1440p monitor for everything else. The IPS colors are nice for stuff like watching movies and video/photo editing if you do any of that. You could also just go with 1 monitor if you want.
