Okay So I am new here.

Ill start of by saying my name "Michael". I have never built a pc

I do not have the extensive knowledge  as any of you. if you could help me build a bad ass pc I would

okay all looks good ..... like I have said I really don't know a whole lot when you talk about buying powersupply ... how much power you would need etc....do mother boards have a limit to what they can handle ?

Because modern CPU and GPU are quite power efficient nowaday, you only need 550W, plus that PSU is really good

lol, no... you would not need that.  The fully modular Seasonic 520W M12ii would be enough.  It is $65.

X99 (Socket 2011-3) is the enthusiast line for 6, 8, and 10 core Intel CPUs (5820K, 5390K, 5690X, 6800K, 6850K, etc..).  Skylake Z170 is the 1151 socket, for different CPUs.

 

X99 support quad channel memory.  Z170 only supports dual channel.

 

Every X99 board supports SLI, not every Z170 board does.

thank youuu so much ... well you brought up that one can support a quad channel and the z170 can support dual channel ..... idk but whats the difference is one better than the other ?

Data transfer (bandwidth) between the CPU and RAM.  Think of it as a bigger water pipe;  the X99 pipeline is twice as wide as the the Z170 pipeline.  If an application stores data in the RAM that the CPU needs to process, the CPU can call twice as much data all at once... if the CPU is capable of processing it that fast.
