Battlefield 1 Open Beta

Just played the new BF1 Beta for 4 hours today. Had fun especially when I'm using a horse, but I have a feeling the game won't be that much of a success in terms of sales unlike COD(not a fanboy of COD, I myself play a lot of CS:GO but I've played the original COD games) because of the damn price. Damn a 166 dollars/8000pesos (I live in the Philippines) and I really wanna buy Battlefield 1 because bought a new gaming PC (which costs $1200/nearly52000php and my gpu is a GTX 960 :(:) but I'm thankful because it was gift from my grandpa). Should I rather buy games on steam during winter sale or should I buy BF1 after the beta is closed.

I also wanna know your opinion guys just wanna talk to someone PEACE!!!

Depends on what games you wanna play, if you enjoy BF1, get BF1. if you don't like it, don't get it. But if you're worried it's gonna die after 1 month, it's not going to

People are gonna play it for years, all battlefield games (except hardline) have been successful, you can even find games in battlefront which a lot of people disliked so no need to worry

It will take a lot of years before a BF game dies, there are probably people who still play BF BC2 so... don't worry. You'll get bored by it before the game dies.

Well it depends. I know it takes years before it dies but come on I have a feeling the game will lack content

This instalment, is in particular, over simplified instant action. It screams Battlefront with no real substance at its core. I have played both BF3 and BF4 very extensively and already this game has me worried. Not to mention SWBF is basically dead now.

That doesn't sound encouraging, I know the planes are setup like battlefront but I was hoping the similarities ended there (minus the standard battlefield stuff)

AFAIK it's running on Frostbite 3, which is what powers Star Wars Battlefront, as well as Battlefield 4, which is why it would feel similar. When i first played the Star Wars beta last year, I was struck by how much the physics and movement felt like BF4. Haven't downloaded the beta yet, I got my code on the day they were released, but haven't had time to download it as of yet

I really do like Battlefield 1, however I am torn of actually buying it when it comes out.

I hate EA with a passion as they scammed me on Battlefront by hiding the 75% of the game behind another paywall. And they have done the same with BF1 they already have DLC ready and are hiding it behind a paywall. I mean FFS $130 for a game is a joke.

Other than that I enjoy it, planes are a blast, I get to use my 1895 Steyr (which I own one), and stabbing people with a bayonet is always nice.

I enjoyed it so far. Performance is top and Weapons feel good. The Explosions are awesome. I hope EA have learned something by now and dont go the Battlefront Road here.

This game is utter trash IMO...  IF your team is losing.... you're going to get spawn raped at every turn by sneaky bastards. Guys looking to get uber amounts of kills, not really going for objectives just hiding out, camping. I remember liking the BF4 MP beta WAY more. Clunky game... clunky controls.... people are saying it's much easier to use a controller in the game yet it's a FPS..???  Keyboard/Mouse should be the best option but it doesn't feel that way.

Plus.... here is the kicker. On my machine the beta will crash everytime after a certain amount of time played because it hogs your memory until you run out of it.  I'm using Win 7-64 bit and a GTX 970, game runs perfectly smooth. Locked pretty much at 70 fps no problem. I used Ultra Textures and FXAA to see if it made a difference from standard high settings and it did not, still crashed on both settings. So the game recommends me to use all high settings... fine.... then why hog my RAM? I laugh at the guys that must be so competitive at this game... when in fact it's such a bad game at the core. No better than COD. The plane physics... omg....  War Thunder makes this look like a kiddie game when it comes to planes and that game is years older. The planes look so slow in the air, especially the bombers.... it's ridiculous. The Vehicles aren't bad I guess. All the servers that are empty show my ping but the servers that are full of people show no ping...??? Ridiculous. The beta also only gives you ONE map. Which is UBER lame.

The only thing I like about battlefield vs cod is the fact that I'm not frustrated that much unlike cod. Always getting spawn trapped

Ok so I don't agree that BF1 is like SWBF, it is much more fun imo

 

However as someone who plays the sniper class it is pretty overpowered imo mostly because it is both anti infantry and anti tank

 

And as expected the beta has bugs but hopefully they fix those especially the one where you spawn with no guns or melee, that sucked, oh and conquest is still my favorite mode which is to be expected

From the few hours that I played it doesn't feel like battlefront, and I don't see why people are saying that. Sure the graphics are the same, but I don't see how that is bad in any way. The weapons feel tight and better then any past BF game, vehicles control well, and the detail in all the animations is impressive to say the least. And the planes felt good, and had a full range of controls. And it looks like the game has a full suit of content out of the box, and premiums seems reasonable in value for what you get over the next year. And the game feels very well optimized, and stable. on 2 GTX 4GB 680s I was getting 50 FPS consistently with out screen tearing at 1440p on Med-High. Its looking like a great release IMO.

Well , it is discouraging , but there are other obvious examples ...

 

Stand next to someone when they shoot with pistols , its literally copy paste from battlefront when you use single-handed blasters .. 

 

But i have played it a bit now , i like the gameplay , the graphics are jaw-dropping even on 1080p , and i get anywhere from 75-100 FPS  ..
