Why do you want to upgrade? Is the 280 not fast enough for you? What settings do you want to play at, what resolution, and what games do you play? Or do you want to do something else?

(You'll also want to upgrade the PSU as the CX500m is a pretty low quality unit).

What do you plan to do 1440p 60fps or something else, though if the 1080 is within your budget you might as well get it unless you plan to just do 1080p

Oh and brand doesn't matter much, so long as it is not a blower style cooler, cheaper cards generally just as good with pascal so there is no reason to pay a premium

Yes, but warranty or customer service don't affect game performance xD

I'd just get the 1080 then if it's within your budget since the 1070 will max out games at 1440p but it doesn't have much wiggle room in terms of performance to spare, and at times it may dip below 60 in certain games

Eh I wasn't worrying about that, so long as it isn't ASUS or PNY I considered it a non issue in the US at least.

Well, a 1070 would be fine for now, a 1080 would last longer but it also costs significantly more....so your choice.

You can use your current psu just fine. The 1080 pulls about the same or less power than your 280.

Except that the CX500m isn't something you really want to be running a 1080 off of.
