i5-6500 vs i5-6400

I am looking to purchase a new cpu , and these two are the cpus which are right for my build and was wondering , is it worth to pay the extra price for the 6500 or just stay with the 6400.

It's worth it as you don't have the option of overclocking with a locked CPU.... Every little bit of extra clock speed can help

It really depends on how much the price difference between the two is. If you need a CPU for a gaming PC, the difference between the two is negligible, even in CPU intensive games. In other applications it might be worth it to get the 6500.

What's the price difference? In games when paired with something like a 980Ti the difference between the two is something around 7-8 percent if I recall.

you can overclock the i5 6400 just as high as the 6500 in most cases so i would get that if its cheaper.

No they havent.  I can be overclocked using a none k oc bios.
