phone disconnecting with longer cable?

Hello all!

 

having a rather annoying problem with my iphone 6s dock (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=291514505814#ht_5893wt_1397) 

 

for some reason when I a 3 metre cable the phone disconnects and reconnects contently works for about 20/30 minutes then repeats disconnecting (tried with two different and one brand new "premium" cable however when I use a much shorter cable I don't get this problem (also tested with my girlfriends 5s and I get the same problem) and of course I've tried changing the usb port. 

 

anyone have any ideas or any trouble shooting steps I've overlooked?

the input to the dock is  DC 5V / 2.4A  which is 0.3A less than a new samsung fast charger and if you are using a cable from the computer u wont get 2.4A since USB from computer only gives 0.5A to 1A. what power source do u use with it? or maybe the dock itself is broken or maybe 3M usb cable is to long and it loses power over that length have u tried a shorter cable?

USB 3.0 port from my mobo i/o I know I won't be getting 2.4A so no fast charge but I shoudn't be getting a disconnecting problem by simply using a longer cable, works fine with the short cable provided, that's too short to use!

well there u have it it's losing amperage on the distance you might need to use a stronger power supply

I see, thanks, odd that it still charges the phone

 

any way I can boost amperage and still retain connection to my computer? Or test what my phone is taking? Or any cables that are more efficient?
