amd 6300 will it bottleneck my new gpu?

Hello,

I have a amd 6300 cpu and a gtx 960 on my current build, thing is I want to upgrade my gpu and I am between a used gtx 970, a brand new gtx 1060 ( or even 1070 ) or an rx 480. I know that those are completely different cards with huge price margins but before I go ahead and purchase something I would like to know if there is the slight possibility of my cpu killing my gpu performance, especially since I dont really see a reason to upgrade my cpu since it would be hella costy and it doesn't bother me at all at my current workload.

You should be okay.  But just about. You will need to overclock probably. I'd suggest to upgrade to something better and reasonably cheap. Intel is a muse here. Pentium G processor should be good enough.

Yes. It will be a major bottleneck. i5 minimum

Well, i wouldnt be so sure bottlenecking the 970 or the 1060 (even less with a nice OC in the 6300 since it ocs pretty well) as for the 1070, it would be so smart to pair an "high end" gpu with a "mid end budget" cpu, its like havin an i3 with better multitasking,

your cpu wont "kill" your gpu performance, but it will certainly hit a limit were the gpu is held back a little, you will still be able to run anything maxed out tho

It'll be a pretty enormous bottleneck in games that don't utilize more than 4 cores, since the FX 6300 has horrible IPC.

The 970 is about the limit of where you shouldn't experience bottlenecks with the FX-63xx.

yes, absolutely...huge possibility...not in every games, but in many games...unless you aim for 4K 30FPS or something like that...but at 1080p...GTX 960 R9 380 is pretty much the highest you should go with that CPU unless you don't mind some games running in the 30 to 45FPS range...but the GPU you've talked about are capable of much more than that at 1080p and your CPU will hold you back...i recommend you stick to the 960 for now and save money for both a CPU and a GPU upgrade.

say what?!?! the pentium is A LOT worse than the FX-6300...a lot worse.

It holds its own when overclocked to 4.7Ghz. Works fine for my brother.
