But what do you call biscuits then?

We distinguish between the two things.  Do Australians have a different term for what Americans call biscuits?

I'd like to think that we aren't so redneck as that.  lol

Question is, what do Americans call biscuits?

I'm not sure, but I think what Americans call biscuits we call scones.

I could be wrong though.

Only a few types of cake, I dislike most cakes because they're too sweet.

Are you sure it's not just the frosting that bugs you?

Maybe different kinds of frosting would appeal to you more?

Never hurts to try new things.  ?

(Unless it's mushrooms...  Godoka nooo I will never try one of those! ?)

For example I cannot eat store bought cakes because they use a type of frosting that tastes so sugary it's nauseating and makes me want to throw up.

But I love homemade frosting or the stuff you can get at a food store like Betty Crocker frosting.  Those taste nice without seeming like they're 1000% sugar.

Looks very similar to scones. Not 100% of the mental image I have of a scone, but pretty close.
You'll need to send me a few boxes of those along with fresh cream and marmalade for me to be able to confirm.

I'd consider it but first they don't come in boxes and second I think I'd die if if I thought the cost to ship anything let alone food all the way from the US to Australia. ?

What you do mean by cream?  I know what whipped cream is but when to me "cream" otherwise means some white liquid stuff you put in coffee.

You saying you'd love cream and your picture being a kitty fit very well together.  ?

I like ice cream cake, and carrot cake.

I'd probably like more cakes if they weren't 90% icing sugar where I lived.

I have had some good cakes, and the good cakes are actually usually more on the tart side than the sweet side.

Like, homemade vanilla cake with some unsweetened whipped cream and strawberries/raspberries is pretty good.

Most store bought cakes are just... meh.

Pumpkin pie, though.

I could live off that.

It tends to be much anything sweet with me. Even just plain cakes with little to no frosting can be pretty hard hit or miss. Frosting does contribute heavily to that dislike though, a lot of the stuff does, to steal a phrase, taste like 1000% sugar.

I guess it goes without saying some of my favorite cakes have little to no frosting at all. Just not a sweets guy myself.

Anyone know any decent places in the UK for ordering cakes online with home delivery?

Your cake game is weak, bruv.

BTW, I will be making this next month: http://kaffeeundcupcakes.de/karamell-apfel-torte/

Speaking of making overly complicated things, last weekend I prepared dough for making gingerbread. I'll have it sit in the cellar until December and then I shall turn it into delicious gingerbread. The real deal, not that stuff you get from the store.

That's ok.  As long as you like something as a treat that's all that matters.  ?
