[Cooler Master] MasterLiquid Maker 92 Hybrid CPU Cooler

VSG

Cool, I guess, but... why? Who's it for? I can see it being outperformed by decent single-tower air coolers, it's a bit too tall for SFF, and it's done away with why people liquid cool in the first place.

this monstrosity, as I said and people took issue with it, is utter fail

Guru3D has a review: https://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/cooler-master-masterliquid-maker-92-cpu-cooler-review,7.html

the testbed is a Core i7 4970K overclocked a 4.6Ghz with 1.3V

load stock clocks results:

index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=250

load OC results:

index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=250

notice how the Noctua C14S is beating it's ass by 6deg at stock and by 7deg when overclocked - why I'm comparing it against the C14S? because when mounted horizontally, the height is comparable (3mm taller than the C14S)

Lol, it got rekt. I know for a fact as well that under full load, my 4790K (4.7GHz @ 1.25V) runs at sub 80oC under full load with both fans running at 1400RPM (1600RPM max) on my Siedon 120V. And its one of the cheapest AIO (and now outdated by the newer revision).

Edit: Noctua could also make a lower profile single fan mount version of the C14S as well that's a lot shorter.

Noctua has the NH-L9x65: http://noctua.at/en/products/cpu-cooler-retail/nh-l9x65

and if you look at the numbers, it's just 1deg over the CM's contraption with the OCed CPU; the diff is bigger at stock clocks - but hey, the footprint of the L9x64 is way way smaller

So, Coolermaster went full retard? Unless they madethe AIO cost less than what is effectively a standard aircooler.

they would not disclose the price of the unit to Guru3D xD

yes, CM went full retard - I can't believe they went into production with it

Alright hold tight ladies and gents, I noticed an issue with the mounting hardware. Two of the nuts are not grabbing the screws as tight as they should giving incorrect pressure. Going to see if I can resolve the issue and and then retest.

Essentially the thumb screws bottom out sooner than they should and this is why having more than one day with a product is important.

I applaud CM for making a cooler design that no one else has made before; however, there might be a reason that no one else has made this yet. It's amazing how even the low profile coolers that are probably half the price of this unit outperform it.

My 4790K must really be helping my AIO out, the Sedion 120V is as good as the new tower AIO-when looking back at its reviews-and it takes 4.8GHz to see those temps under Aida64.

BTW, a Seidon 120V Plus/Hyper212 Evo is a better purchase. 1 is shitloads cheaper, and the other is probably about the same in price and not restricted to a tower design.

The entire point of water cooling is:

  1. You move the heat away from the CPU/inside of the case and onto the edges of the case, thus pushing the hot air directly out of the case.
  2. Have a radiator with a big surface area, thus providing great cooling at little noise.

This thing provides neither of those benefits. I don't get it. A normal aircooler would probably do better/same, and be more quiet.

precisely this. Correct me if i'm mistaken, but aren't heatpipes more efficient than liquid in regards to transporting heat anyway? struggling to see the point of this thing.
