GPU & CPU combo recommendations for 1080p 30 fps

woo124

Hi,

Could you please make a recommendations for bare minimum GPU & CPU for running most modern games at default settings (not having to tweak the graphics settings) to run at 1080p 30fps?

If possible, I also would like a similar recommendations for a pair with a little bit more leg room for future proofing (e.g. I may want ones with 4G VRAM although 2G VRAM is probably sufficient)

Thank you

Thanks

For "future proofing" i'd say go with an i5 6500 and pick either the rx 470 or 480.

Well I really can't promise you'll be able to play with auto detected settings. Most games are terrible at detecting hardware, you'll always have to configure the resolution and at least go click "medium" somewhere. There's just no way around it, part of PC gaming.

1) This is about as low as you can go that leaves you with a system you can actually improve

2) A better PSU is recommended but you're on a budget

3) The GPU should NOT be that one, it needs to be a 470 but stupid PC Part picker hasn't updated yet so I can't select it. If you wanna save even more you should go for a 960 or 380 card you can find on sale but the 470 should keep 1080p games playable for several years is worth to configure your rig at this price point, any lower and you're just asking to upgrade too soon and henceforth spending more money overall.

Backing this one. I3's are well on their way out for a satisfactory gaming experience.

Not really:

They perform fine for low budget builds that will have 470 level performance tops.

Well some games will have lower minimum or recommended specs but those PCs at those specs probably won't fare as well as like what @legacy99 suggested.

i3 6100 and RX 470 for your 30fps.

But if you want it a bit better, get i3 6100 + RX 480. That will give you 60fps with no problems. Sure i5 6500 would be better, but even i3 can handle 1080p gaming at 60fps in most games.

Thank you all for your feedback.

What if I were to get a bit greedy and wanted to run games on high settings at 1080p 30fps?

Would you recommendations for the future proof version be able to handle that?

If not, which GPU & CPU would you recommend? Once again the same question with a bit of future proofing.

Also, on a side note, for games that are on PS4 and PC, are the graphics for the PS4 version equivalent of medium setting or is it more toward high setting? Just to be clear, I don't have issues with either system. I own both.

With an i5 6500 + RX 480 you should be able to play 1080p 60 fps on high settings in most games ..... (if you drop any AA )

Jokes aside I'd get the PS4. It's cheaper and requires no imput from you while delivering 30fps at medium settings. Even the new Xbox One S with its Polaris GPU can offer that.

PC gaming is best when you take control of your experience, console is best when you're not looking to have control.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Should be a decent foot-in-the-door build, but pcpp is horrible on mobile :P

Short summary: i5, 8GB ram, rx480, WHITE LABEL CXM power supply (first one to forget the white label ones are much improved gets a free report, i'm sick of senseless fanboyism driving threads into oblivion)
