Build problems

Kidbest100

Hey guys, I'm building a rig with a max budget of 1500$.

Parts are as follows:

i5 4670K

R9 280X 3GB

8 GB corsair vengeance 1600MHz

MSI Z-87 G43 motherboard

Samsung 840 series 120GB SSD

WD 2TB green drive

Bitfenix Ronin case

things I have in my currect build and am planning to use:

XFX core edition 650 Watt 80Plus Bronze

CM hyper 212+

My problem is:

My buddy said that I could have his old windows 7 out of his laptop, I would do a clean install and everything would be fine.

The thing is, he is travelling around more now, and he is wanting to keep his OS now.

If I'm forced to buy a new windows 7, or even 8, I would be over budget by like 20-30 bucks...

What can I do?

see if you can transfer a copy from your old computer (you can if your current computer is licensed)

you can always find a copy online, or just use unactivated windows for as long as you need to. It still actually works unactivated.

Also, windows 8 is not bad, I don't know where everyone gets this idea from

Install windows 7 with a key. You canbuse the full win7 experience for 4months.

Just find an install disk on ebay or criagslist.

There's also other ways of obtaining windows that cant be discussed on the forum...

Human nature. Change is "bad". I like it, I don't know why people speak of it like the devil.

Same, it's pretty much Windows 7 with some nicer UI tweaks and performance increases, with the optional metro UI ontop of it.
